How to make your Tour Worth it during Holidays

Written By (sagada genuine guides association inc). on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 | 12:40 PM

In Sagada, holiday means lotsa people, traffic jam, busy everywhere..

our Roads, are clogged by vehicles (tourists and locals alike)

The caves are suffocating
can you even find a rock for you?

You can reschedule your tours but what if you already booked your lodging, your bus tickets and your guide?

Here are some remedies that can improve you tour way way better..

There are atleast 4 main tour sites in Sagada, How will you proceed with your tours without the hassle anb bassle of Traffic Jam

1. Sumaging Cave or the Cave connection

If you want to take a shot where no people are visible then the best way is to  be there first before everyone else. Talk to your guide so that you can be there the earliest way you can.. We define early as in 5 - 6 am by the way..

2. The Echo  Valley (site of the hanging coffins)

This site is usually visited in the afternoons, so come here in during mornings.

3. The Waterfalls

Almost all are visiting this part of Sagada in the morning.. so what you can do is to get here early in the morning of IMO in the afternoon. around 2 pm will do..

4. Sunrise Tour (AYOKO NA)

Nowadays, you can barely take a photo of you at the site because everybody is there :)
(right: these people have no where else to view so they just sat there at the top)
(left photo: this is the below the view point where the movie Tadhana, took the shot, are full of Ayokona moment people)

The Solution is:
Wake up earlier and take the hike.

Don't be lazy, instead of going to kiltepan where everybody seems to be going, try hiking to Marlboro mountain which is way way more scenic and has greater vantage point in viewing the sunrise.

the view from here is 360, lotsa space, and clearly, not a lot of people make it here because they simply doesn't want to walk.

as for the Sunset, one can have a view of it at Lake Danum but can be viewed at Mount Nabas-ang
Like a party @ lake danum
three stoogies at Mount Nabas-ang peak

If you want to hike where there are lesser tourists hanging around then. consider these places:
* Kama-utek (aka The Blue Soil Hills)
view of the hills from the top
* Mount Ampacao to Lake Danum Trail
this summer, the trail will be full of flowers (baby breaths)

Aside from the sites, here are other reminders on how to make your tours hassle free.

1. One common delay of tour in Sagada is the Eating time, most of, we prepare the food slower because we cook it well, and we are not into portioning lots of food, so be patient. however, if there is 10 of you in the group. try ordering the same menu, or better yet, reserve your food at some restaurants.

2. Upon arrival in Sagada and your next itinerary is to visit the cave, Don't take a bath yet.

3. Wake up early, if getting up early is hard then make a sacrifice, because 12 hours butt aching ride is not a joke.

Travel Agency Black List

Written By (sagada genuine guides association inc). on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 5:14 PM

This post is dedicated to caution our Guests from these Tour Providers. We train our guides to give the best possible experience for our guests (because if we don't, you can complain here).

These Travel Agencies reduce Guide to client ratio inside the cave and other sites. Some agencies, hire freelance guides, untrained, unregulated and can do anything he wants without someone telling them that it's not the right way. Others, just don't take guides and do it for themselves, thinking that everything is alright as nothing will ever happen. All of these lead to a reduced Quality tour and Safety issues.

We advice you to choose not the CHEAPEST one. Go for QUALITY.
Ask if your guides are SAGGAS?
(remember that Tour Guides play an 80% role in making your visit among the best one in the Philippines)

1. PILIPINAS ROADTRIP - we have observed that this travel agency hired freelance and non locals guide for their cave tours, the worst part is, they are highly under ratio (ex. 1 guide is to 9 guests for the cave connection tour.. the standard ratio is 1 guide is to 2 pax)

2. JCE TOURS
3. BUDGET LOCAL TOURS
4. A WHOLE NEW WORLD travel and tour

Try the contacts below, if not, ask your provider, who will be your guides.
